Signal Integrity

Overview
It is difficult to analyze and find signal integrity problems on an existing board, even though the problems are found, the solutions which are used on the board will take lots of time, and inevitably costs will go up. The most effective way is to check, eliminate or make signal integrity problems less during circuit design before physical design is finished, which requires engineers to do simulation analysis on circuit parameters with the assistance of EDA tools so that problems can be found at an early stage. Furthermore, RD cycle can be shortened and RD costs can be reduced. In the mean time, engineers’ confidence in simulation can be boosted.
Yinghua has a fully-developed simulation design flow and can provide solutions on SI problems. Based on SI design and timing requirements, signal integrity simulation before routing can help engineers choose components, adjust placement, plan system clock network and confirm topology of key networks. Simulation after routing can help engineers evaluate if the reflection, overshoot, ringing, crosstalk, timing and other parameters match design requirements, therefore, potential SI problems can be found and design reliability can be improved.
SI Simulation Content
1.Reflection Simulation: Evaluate a series of problems caused by discontinuous impedance, such as overshoot, ringing, monotonic and ISI.
2.Crosstalk Simulation: Evaluate crosstalk of traces from the same layer or adjacent layer in high-density routing.
3.Timing Simulation: Evaluate if electrical delay meets timing requirements according to common-clock system and source synchronous system timing requirements.
4.High Speed Link Model Creation & Simulation: Creating model simulation analysis, outputting S parameter models of routing, via connector, pad and evaluating signal eye-opening, jitter and BER on high speed serial link which is above GHz.
5.Optimization Analysis: Based on the above-mentioned content and combine past design experience, we can provide optimization suggestions on termination, topology, timing and differential pair design.
